Hello, I’m Jennie

I’m a Creative Director & Professional Photographer who focuses on learning and then telling the story of your business in a way that immediately forms a sincere connection with your clients. My passion for storytelling, art & design began early and influenced all of my studies and experience. My outlet is in masterful photography, using these skills as the perfect medium to tell my client’s unique stories of their businesses and passions.

I attended Fanshawe College, where I graduated in 2010 from the Photography Program in London, Ontario. Spending my entire career in the city of Calgary, amongst the energy of inspiring fellow entrepreneurs and passionate artists, has been a professional photographer’s dream, as have been my clients.

We dig deep on these shoots! When someone lets you in to see their sacred story from humble beginnings to the dreams they’ve achieved, that’s where the magic is created.

After over a decade of experience designing and executing photoshoots, trust me to visually tell your story not only artistically and passionately, but deeply as well.  I live for creating imagery that draws people in, that tells a story, that connects instantly with the viewer on a deeper level.  There’s no better way to share the many threads that weave together to create your business, than in seeing the truth of it in a photograph.

 

The story behind our brand name

what does plaited mean?

Plaited means, "Interwoven strands that create an intricate pattern, that form something both strong and beautiful."

We are part of an entire generation that’s plaiting together the strands of our past to create a more purposeful present and future.

All of life and time is interwoven with one another, we see it all around us in our relationships with ourselves and others, and in our relationship with the earth and nature that we are a part of.

Our stories are what so easily connect us to the world around us.  It's where we find empathy, compassion and connection to people we would never have had the chance to get to know otherwise.

Stories have an incredible power to cut through the noise to find where our hearts connect, where we have felt the same joy and sorrow, triumph and pain.

I see myself as an expert story weaver, creating portraits that plait together the strands of our lives, our loves, our families, and our passions. Plaited will capture and represent the depth of your story and connections through profound photos.

The story behind the Logo

What does our logo represent?

I wanted to use an oak tree because it represents wisdom, strength, and durability.  It's also the tree that is pictured in the symbolic, Celtic Tree of Life.

The Tree of Life is a recurring symbol throughout our heritage, one that can be found in ancient Gaelic/Celtic legends. In Norse mythology it represents balance and harmony in all worlds, the interconnectedness between all things.

The branches reach out to represent learning and knowledge, the trunk symbolizes strength and unity, it's leaves represent renewed growth and the deep roots represent our heritage.  The tree is interwoven with all of the aspects of our stories, and the photographs I produce at Plaited aim to portray the entirety of your tree.
